Hey there, Welcome aboard.

Allow me to take the opportunity to expalin why I felt the need for this, yet another local music site.

I've been living in MA my entire life. I've seen the local scene go through a myriad of shifts. All throughout, I've watched all the garbage rise to the surface. Godsmack, Staind, New Kids on the Block, Bell Biv Devoe, Winger, LFo, ... It amazes me the amount of trendy bullshit and generic emotionless rock that has launched from our shores. I've watched some of the best music come and go. Sometimes, I'll find a gem that has already broken up or faded before I ever even heard of them. There's just never been a good place to find out about the types of music I like in the area. I rarely hear about bands that live as little as twenty minutes away until they garner national notice.

It used to be, I could go to shows. There were clubs everywhere, and hardcore and metal had a devoted following that would gather to see bands from all over. I'd meet bands, buy thier cd's and tapes. Nowadays, some bands don't even play in the area. There's no room for hardcore in the beantown anymore. Who the hell wants to put thier insurance to the test hosting all ages shows, when they could just spin records and entertain e-tards while selling them some blue shit in test tubes at $5 a shot?

The internet is an incredible tool. Since coming online maybe two years ago, I've found more music and amazing bands every day. When I became part of a local metal band a few years ago, I began paying attention to some of the local music sites and resources. I noticed that a lot of these forums attracted many fans of metal and hardcore, but did not actually promote these forms. Instead, there's sites promoting cock-rock, avant garde white stripish alt rock, and worst of all, sites trying to squeeze every form of music and band in Massachussetts into thier site while blindly missing almost everything.

So here you have it. The purpose of Masscore is blatantly simple. Metal, and Hardcore in all thier varied forms. You'll find honest, blatantly opinionated coverage here as well. We don't favor friends, we don't suck up to anyone, and we keep track of what we like - not what we think you'll like. Hopefully you'll forgive us for our occasional rants, outburts, and differences of opinion, and simply enjoy having a place where you can finally see what your home has to offer.
