Dropkick DVD...

Dropkick Murphys have set March 9th as the release of their 1st DVD not-so-cleverly entitled 'On the Road with the Dropkick Murphys'.  The release boasts over 4 hours of footage including a full live show in 5.1 surround sound recorded during the 2002 St. Patrick's Day Weekend, music videos, home footage, selections from their 2003 BlackOut tour, and a mini-feature entitled '65 Days of Hell' which chronicles the band for 3 months.

Reunion-Set...

Former Grand Royal artist and local boys Nullset will be reuniting with all there original members for a couple of shows.  The first will be March 13th at the Lucky Dog Music Hall in lovely Worcester.  The other will be the only Boston area show at the Middle East - Downstairs on April 9th.  Also performing will be White, Drinkfist (both bands feature former Nullset members), In Vision (featuring Ryan formerly of No December and some former members of Flip22), and Crowne Vict.  Tickets for the Middle East show will be sold through Ticketmaster.

Boston hardcore legends Slapshot have announced that thier upcoming tour of europe will in fact be thier last tour in europe.  While no reason has been given,  expect an explanation from the band sometime in the near future.

Hit The Pit Records Folds......

Hit The Pit Records,  home of Days Gone By,  have decided to end thier foray into label-dom.  They will continue on with www.hitthepit.com and thier coverage of the scene,  but the records will come no more.

In Related News,  Days Gone By are now without label.  They are currently putting together material for a new recording,  and seeking a new label.

More Confusing Lineup Changes...

In another great example of why the hardcore and metal scene contains so many straight edge kids,  here's a few more lineup changes for me to wrap my drug addled mind around:

  • Bassist Greg Weeks from Beyond the Sixth Seal (r.i.p.) is now playing for The Red Chord
  • John Dow of Dead Water Drowning is now playing drums for The Red Chord
  • Mike Justain of The Red Chord is now playing drums for Unearth
  • Adam Wentworth of The Red Chord is now playing bass for Premonitions of War
  • Gunface,  guitarist of the The Red Chord and singer of Beyond the Sixth Seal (r.i.p.) is going to be filling in on vocals for Premonitions of War

Converging on Epitath...

Converge has now been officially signed to Epitaph Records. They are currently scheduled to begin work on their follow-up to 2001's Jane Doe in March/April after returning from a short Euro tour. The disc tentatively titled You Fail Me is looking at a mid-2004 release.
